ABC Reschedules Debate About God

New York, May 2, 2007 - Actor Kirk Cameron and best-selling author Ray Comfort will square off with two atheists in New York on Saturday, May 5. ABC originally planned to stream the 90-minute debate LIVE on their website, but decided to reschedule the broadcast to capture a larger audience. They will broadcast the entire debate on ABC.com on Wednesday, May 9 at 1:00 p.m. EST.

Comfort-who claims he can prove the existence of God, scientifically, without mentioning faith or the Bible-stated, "The network originally offered me only four minutes to present my case. After speaking with Kirk and conferring with the atheists, they settled on 13 minutes. I'm ecstatic. I can prove the existence of God in that amount of time.

"We are very grateful to ABC for taking this courageous step," Comfort continued. "As far as we know, nothing like this has ever been done before. ABC's website is already the 7th most visited news site, with 19 million visitors every month. But with more than 177 million people in the U.S. who call themselves Christians, we are sure that it will draw an even larger viewing audience. Is there actually evidence for God? That's the most important question any of us will ever consider."

Cameron added, "We are excited that the network has decided to do this, because we have something very relevant to present. Most people think that belief in God is simply a matter of blind faith, and that His existence can't be proven. We will not only prove that God exists, but as an ex-atheist I'll show that the issue keeping so many people from believing in God-Darwinian evolution-is completely unscientific. It's a fairy-tale for grownups."

The debate came about after ABC ran a story in January about hundreds of atheists videotaping themselves blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

"But," Comfort continued, "there is something more sinister here than a few people not believing in God. Why would so many be so bitter against Christianity in particular? Why aren't they making videos that blaspheme Buddha or Mohammed or Ghandi? We made our own video clip and posted it on www.Hollywoodblasphemy.com to expose why.

As of May 2 there is still an opportunity for people to join in the debate, by submitting questions that will be passed on to the panelists. ABC will limit the live audience to 100 people, evenly divided between atheists and believers. The debate will be moderated by Martin Bashir, and on May 9 a shortened version of the debate will be aired on Nightline.

Boson Bozos

by Thomas E. Brewton

Scientists seeking ultimate answers to the origin, nature, and future of the cosmos have pursued a long series of mutually exclusive, speculative theories. Liberals embrace these speculations as scientific truth, even though they have less basis in verifiable fact than 5,000 years of faith in God recorded in the Bible.

Every attempt to date to unify cosmological and nuclear particle theories has foundered on newly observed, unreconcilable, opposing sets of facts. Seeking to bridge these gaps, cosmologists, nuclear particle physicists, and mathematicians have drifted far into the realm of abstract speculation.

Science at the outer limits of knowledge, both at the cosmological and sub-atomic levels, has come increasingly to resemble the speculations of medieval scholastic philosophers dealing in doctrinal abstractions.

New TV Special Links Darwin to Hitler

FORT LAUDERDALE, Aug. 21 /Christian Newswire/ — Author and Christian broadcaster Dr. D. James Kennedy connects the dots between Charles Darwin and Adolf Hitler in Darwin’s Deadly Legacy, a groundbreaking inquiry into Darwin’s chilling social impact. The new television documentary airs nationwide on August 26 and 27 on The Coral Ridge Hour. For station listings, go to http://www.coralridge.org/darwin/.

What: New TV documentary, Darwin’s Deadly Legacy

When: August 26, 27, 2006

Where: Nationwide; details at http://www.coralridge.org/darwin/

The program features 14 scholars, scientists, and authors who outline the grim consequences of Darwin’s theory of evolution and show how his theory fueled Hitler’s ovens.

“To put it simply, no Darwin, no Hitler,” said Dr. Kennedy, the host of Darwin’s Deadly Legacy. “Hitler tried to speed up evolution, to help it along, and millions suffered and died in unspeakable ways because of it.”

The one-hour program features Ann Coulter, author of Godless; Richard Weikart, author of From Darwin to Hitler; Lee Strobel, author of The Case for a Creator; Jonathan Wells, author of Icons of Evolution; Phillip Johnson, author of Darwin on Trial; Michael Behe, author of Darwin’s Black Box; Ian Taylor, author of In the Minds of Men, and Francis Collins, Director of the Human Genome Project.

“Among German historians, there’s really not much debate about whether or not Hitler was a social Darwinist. He clearly was drawing on Darwinian ideas,” said Weikart, a professor of modern European history at California State University, Stanislaus.

Ann Coulter, a bestselling author and popular conservative columnist, said Hitler “was applying Darwinism. He thought the Aryans were the fittest and he was just hurrying natural selection along.”

Atheists Agnostics and Evolutionists – The Worst Gamblers

EvolutionistsRev. Michael Bresciani

I have seen the odds of having the right amino acids and other components coming together from the primordial ooze and creating life mathematically computed. It produces a number followed by so many zeros that if I used the smallest font on my computer it would take the rest of this article to write them in, plus another several hundred pages to record them all.

Mathematics being a far more exact science than some others there is little room for speculation, pontifical statements or what is commonly called prior philosophic postulation. Such is what is commonly used by evolutionists, archaeologist, paleontologists and others when making statements about the beginning of life. In the plainest language, scientists who use prior postulation are making statements that require faith to believe – just like a preacher who proclaims the gospel.

I never did well in math. It seemed I could comprehend the value of literature and philosophy better. But I am not so foolish as to disregard the findings of the math crowd. Indeed, I rather respect them and their no-nonsense findings.

Calculating odds for or against something is given great credence today. It can free an innocent man or condemn a guilty one. The odds of some ones DNA being the same as someone else is sufficient grounds to free or convict them in a trial. Why then, do we ignore the odds when it comes to matters like the beginning of all life or what happens at the end of life?

Being ignorant doesn’t always mean you are dumb. It can mean that while you may be superbly intelligent you are ignoring certain obvious facts or figures. Often ignoring these facts is due to a prior philosophic postulate. So what’s that? It is a pre-disposition or a mindset to believe something else that you’ve been taught, something you have read or just a pet belief that you have attached to yourself without any examination and scrutiny. Here is an example.

Newest Book in Elementary Creation Science Series Develops Science Scholars Sans Evolution

Homeschool scienceALPHARETTA, Georgia, April 13 /Christian Wire Service/– How do Christian parents teach their children genuine academic science without swallowing huge doses of evolution? How can parents and Christian schools combat the evolutionary propaganda that permeates science books, movies and television shows? The fourth book in Jeannie Fulbright’s elementary science series, to be released this summer, promises to continue the tradition of educating children in strong science while fortifying their faith. This new book, Exploring Creation with Zoology II – Swimming Creatures of the Fifth Day, takes students on an adventure of animal discovery through the streams, rivers and oceans of the world. The newest book joins the first three books, Exploring Creation with Astronomy, Exploring Creation with Botany and Exploring Creation with Zoology I, in their investigation of in-depth topics while glorifying God, without sacrificing solid, research-based science.

Adam & Eve — Were they real? Astonishing new DNA evidence points to Eden

Darwin Not GodThe question of human origins is at the center of one of the most hotly contested debates of our time.

Did human beings emerge through evolutionary processes from ape-like ancestors or are we a special creation? Does belief in a creator demand that we reject or ignore science or is it possible that science and faith can be allies rather than enemies?

Answers to these and other questions are discussed in the best-selling new book by Dr. Fazale ‘Fuz’ Rana, Who Was Adam: A Creation Model Approach to the Origin of Man.

In Who Was Adam? Dr. Rana presents cutting-edge discoveries about the human fossil record, ‘junk’ DNA, Neanderthals, and the connections between humans and primates.

“Recent genetic and archeological findings show that human beings did not evolve from ape-like creatures,” contends internationally respected biochemist, Dr. Fazale ‘Fuz’ Rana.

“With the discovery of what scientists have aptly named Y-chromosomal Adam and Mitochondrial Eve, new genetic and DNA evidence with the fossil record show very clearly that modern humans are not related to previously existing hominids as once believed.

“There is astonishing new evidence to support the position that homo sapien sapiens exploded onto the scene less than 100,000 years ago from a single man and a single woman.

Is Fossil Discovery Darwin’s “Missing Link”?-Tiktaalik Raises Unanticipated Problems for Evolution

NEWS ADVISORY, April 10, (Christian Newswire Service)-Scientists have recovered 375-No Evolutionmillion-year-old fossils of a shallow-water fish in sediments in the Canadian Arctic near the North Pole.

Evolutionary biologists believe that this creature, dubbed Tiktaalikroseae, documents the transition that animals made from the sea to land. Tiktaalik is being touted as one of the most important fossil finds in history-Darwin’s "missing link."

However, not all scientists agree that Tiktaalik proves the case for evolution. One such scientist is internationally respected biochemist Fazale ‘Fuz’ Rana, PhD, a Christian origin-of-life researcher and Vice President at the science/faith think-tank, Reasons To Believe.

"If Tiktaalik is a transitional intermediate, it means that evolution from fish to land-dwelling animals must have happened in less than 10 million years.

"When evolutionary biologists claim that the transition from sea to land is that fast-paced," argues Rana, "it raises very real questions about evolution as an explanation for life’s history, even if this fossil is regarded as the ‘holy grail’ of paleontology.

"Evolution couldn’t have happened that rapidly given the extensive biological changes needed for a creature to move from the water to land. Evolutionary biologists have made up their minds before they even examine the data," Rana continues. "They are so convinced that evolution is a fact they are unwilling to carefully weigh the evidence."

CWA Mourns the Loss of Dr. Henry Morris

Washington, D.C. — Concerned Women for America (CWA) mourns the loss of a good friend, an influential Christian leader, and the founder of the modern creationist movement, Dr. Henry Morris. Dr. Morris passed away in California on Saturday, February 25, 2006, at the age of 87, having led a full and accomplished life.

“Dr. Morris was a blessing to all who were privileged enough to know him,” said Beverly LaHaye, CWA’s Founder and Chairman. “He has left a lasting legacy of faithfulness, intellect, diligence and servanthood. He used the many gifts God gave him to contribute greatly to the kingdom of God.”

One of Dr. Morris’ most notable accomplishments was his lifelong, sturdy defense of a literal six-day creation. His publication of The Genesis Flood in 1961 laid the foundation for his work and helped earn him the title “Father of the Modern Creation Movement.” Dr. Morris passionately fought the false dichotomy between science and Biblical orthodoxy. He founded the Institute for Creation Research (http://www.icr.org/ ) and wrote more than 60 books and countless articles.

“I well remember when my husband, Tim, first invited Dr. Morris to San Diego to help found Christian Heritage College – yet another great legacy this hard-working and dedicated man has left to the generations to come,” Mrs. LaHaye said. “Who knew then what great things God had in store for him and how much he would do for God’s kingdom? Dr. Morris’ life shows each one of us how much God will use us if only we will let Him.

“We at Concerned Women for America want to offer our deepest condolences to the family and many friends of Dr. Henry Morris,” Mrs. LaHaye said. “We will miss him but are comforted to know he is rejoicing in the presence of his Creator and ours.”

Ohio and Wisconsin State School Boards Propose Banning Intelligent Design

Censorship In Our Public School Systems Is Not New!

The debate between evolution and intelligent design is heating up again. Both Ohio and Wisconsin state school boards are proposing legislation to outright ban the teaching of intelligent design.

The proponents for intelligent design are standing up to this censorship in science. The Capitol Times in Wisconsin reports:

Gary McCaleb, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian law firm based in Scottsdale, Ariz., said in an interview that his firm would take a hard look at the legislation.

"Mandating a point of view and trying to enshrine your current science in law is, to me, just scientists begging for disaster," McCaleb said. "It’s very problematic to have scientists trying to shut down the debate."

Attie said he and the other UW scientists backing the bill are doing just the opposite.

"We’re trying to uphold standards for science education, but by no means do we want to stop discussion. We’ve very interested in discussing this issue at length, but we want truth in labeling. Intelligent design is religion and it’s not science."

In the Ohio battle against intelligent design, the Ohio state school board took a giant step backwards in regards to teaching science. The Christian Educators Association International in a press release Ohio Censors Science Options:

“Last Tuesday, the Ohio Board of Education took a giant step backwards by sterilizing Ohio public school science standards of any critical analysis of the theory of evolution,” says Finn Laursen, Executive Director of the Christian Educators Association. “The result is inevitably a chilling effect upon intellectual inquiry.”

The Ohio state board voted eleven to four to delete teaching material that would allow students to be able to “describe how scientists continue to investigate and critically analyze aspects of evolution.” Board member Martha Wise led the charge to remove any science not supportive of evolution out of the state’s standards, despite the objections of those, including Laursen, who had been pleading with her to reconsider.

In her communication with Laursen, she explained that the state science lesson plan, Critical Analysis of Evolution, may lead students to Intelligent Design, then to Creationism, and then to God.

“Wise fears that encouraging critical thinking might land the state of Ohio in court,” says Laursen. “Since when should we be afraid of where intellectual inquiry may lead?”

The Ohio Board’s decision comes in the wake of a court ruling in Dover, Pennsylvania, that stopped the district there from informing students that evolution is a theory and that Intelligent Design is another theory; the district had suggested to students that they could investigate these issues on their own.

Class On Intelligent Design Comes To A California School

The main-stream media does report the truth. But if the topic is controversial, such as creation or intelligent designer, they will try to hide the truth with as much negative ideas and words as they can..

In an article by Guardian Unlimited, they do report that a California school is allowing the teaching of  course called Philosophy of Design. The teacher is the wife of the minister of the local Assembly Of God.

The course teacher, Sharon Lemburg, is a special education teacher with a degree in physical education and the social sciences. Philosophy does not feature on her resume, but her marriage to a minister of the Assembly of God church does. The Assembly of God is a Christian fundamentalist, pro-creationist church, and Lebec, home to 1,300 souls, has become the latest frontline in the debate over intelligent design.

But the article continues with many references to all the cults that are at home in California, therefore lumping the course,  Philosophy of Design with all the other cults. In effect the article demonizes the Philosophy of Design course.

While the debate rumbles away in Kansas, North Dakota and Pennsylvania, it has found its spiritual home in southern California. For the last hundred years or so, as Carey McWilliams chronicles in the admirable collection of his writings Fool’s Paradise, southern California has provided a welcoming home for all manner of religious offshoots, wacky beliefs, cults, messiahs and worse.

The article does end with the legal pundits saber rattling, threatening lawsuits and make a lot of noise over the erroneously conceived "separation of church and state".

Barry Lynn, the executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which has brought the lawsuit on behalf of the parents, believes that the course is a blatant attempt to teach intelligent design, but under the auspices of philosophy instead of science. Barry Lynn, the executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, which has brought the lawsuit on behalf of the parents, believes that the course is a blatant attempt to teach intelligent design, but under the auspices of philosophy instead of science.

Even over 100 years ago, Charles Spurgeon had more sense than today’s creationists:

The worst sort of clever men are those who know better than the Bible and are so learned that they believe that the world had no Maker, and that men are only monkeys with their tails rubbed off.
