The word apostasy is derived from the Greek word apostasis which literally means “desertion.” In the last few years of time as we know it the Bible clearly promises there will be a falling away or apostasy in the church and in long held theological principles.
If you need to ask if an apostasy or a desertion is occurring today you probably don’t own a radio or a television set. Long held beliefs are being questioned, set aside and abandoned altogether with alarming frequency. Here are some prime examples.
On January 5, 2008 a CBN newswomen Kristi Watts interviewing mega pastor Joel Osteen posed the question “What about the s-word, the d-word and the h-word.” Osteen acknowledged that he understood that the interviewer was referring to the words sin, devil and hell.
He quickly admitted that those were words he did not use in his messages because they tended to promote a negative approach to things. With more than 1300 clear references to the devil, sin and hell throughout the bible Osteen raised more questions than he answered.
The first question might be “who commissioned him to re-write the bible." A second more important question might be "what did Christ die for?" Up to now we thought he died for the sins of the world. The third question is derived from the bibles own answer to the second question and is inevitable. What’s the point of the rest of the bible if that’s not true, or important?

WASHINGTON, April 10 /Christian Newswire/– On her television show Oprah Winfrey has been pushing a new book by Eckhart Tolle called A New Earth. In fact, Oprah has now taken up preaching as a new past time and has determined in her own mixed-up mind there are now millions of ways to get to heaven.
This is so sad because Oprah is a hero of tens of millions of television viewers and she is expressing her own Biblical beliefs without any understanding of the Bible. Oprah has in effect denied the teachings of the Bible and of Jesus Christ by asking her viewing audience, "How can there be only one way to heaven or to God?"
When a lady in her audience asked, "What about Jesus?" Oprah defiantly answered her by repeating the question, "What about Jesus?" Oprah went on to explain how she had been a Baptist until she heard a charismatic Pastor make the statement that God was a jealous God. She told her viewers in her opinion God was simply love and God being described as a Jealous God made her really stop and think.
Don Swarthout, President of Christians Reviving America's Values said, "Oprah Winfrey has in reality just exposed her own lack of understanding about the God of Christianity. God may be a God of love, but he is also a God of justice and judgment."
Don Swarthout said, "The point is there are millions upon millions of Christians in the United States who thoroughly believe what Jesus taught in the Bible and for Oprah to come out against that teaching so strongly is simply appalling. Oprah should really stop to think before she goes off preaching her own unfounded beliefs to the world on her show."
Rebecca Chadwick, a news contributor for CRAVE said, "All cults share the same premise; they misrepresent the nature of God. Let's pray for Oprah and Tolle… and all those who are lost."

American liberal-socialism is the gnostic descendant of the French Revolution and its Reign of Terror. The genealogical connection begins with Henri de Saint-Simon, the French intellectual who codified the doctrine of socialism in the first decades of the 1800s, shortly after the Revolution.
His colleagues and followers, including Auguste Comte, formed a body of disciples known as the Saint-Simonians. They spread the Gnostic gospel to German universities, where it became mixed with the philosophies of Fichte and Hegel.

Question
With all of the various interpretations of the second coming today how do we know if we are on target, or off on a wild tangent?
Answer
This question seems to be the one that plagues the believer most often and it is easy to see why. Do we go with a pre, mid or post tribulation rapture? Should we believe the teachings of the pre, post or ah millennialists? And there are many other questions swirling around today in a dizzying melee that will confuse anyone, regardless of how well grounded in God’s word they may be. There is an answer to this dilemma, and it is the only answer that can prevail against the confusion.
To start with we can split the whole field of second coming teachers and interpreters into two camps, this rule also apply to teachers and interpreters of any part of the Bible. They are either conservative or liberal in their approach. We hear these terms being used largely in politics, but for the teacher or the student of the Bible these terms have a slightly different meaning.
The liberal interpreter of the Bible doesn’t take God’s word nearly as serious as conservatives do. Mostly they do not believe the Bible is inspired, inerrant or infallible. They may believe the Bible to he inspired in spots, and that occasionally, they may be inspired to spot the spots. Some liberals may hang to the moderate side, and think that God is only serious about the most serious things like, thou shalt not kill, or thou shalt not commit adultery. But the dyed in the wool liberal is not sure God is serious about anything.
This kind of biblical liberalism winds up using terms to describe God’s word like, poetry, allegory, symbolism, simile, myth, or fable. Liberals may also use terms like unknowable, questionable or false. They are often in doubt about who wrote the scripture and if it has any practical place in our lives. They may question the historicity not only of the Bible, but of the characters of the Bible as well. The list of attributes seen in the liberal is much greater than I want to mention here.

Research for this article was easy because of all the hype about Dan Brown’s new movie about the Da Vinci code. The question is simple. How can an educated public anywhere in the world take this novel or the movie it spawned seriously? I have found a few answers and some of them come from the bible itself which the Da Vinci code obviously does not take very seriously. There are those who would insist that if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck it still may not be a duck but even this crowd could hardly deny that it at least sounds quacky.
The bible says that in the last days that people will not endure or allow sound teaching or admonition from the bible or just about any other source, 2 Timothy 4:3. It says people would rather scour the earth looking for teachers who will scratch their itching exactly the way they want to be scratched. Of course Dan Brown has repeatedly said that after all it is only a novel and is not meant to be a history or an immutable heretofore un-acknowledged truth. Against that claim I can remember the night I watched two of TV’s most prominent movie reviewers discuss all that we the public have learned from various movies over the past forty years. Let’s get real. Whether Dan Brown insists that his novel was meant to be didactic or not, it will teach the weak minded and those hungry for any new thing that’s hot off the secular media buffet.

Denouncing the use of fiction to spread error, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property (TFP) has just released a book that unmasks Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code as an attack on the foundations of Christianity itself. The book is certain to be part of the controversy surrounding the soon-to-be-made film version of the bestseller.

Horror imagery distributed in Catholic Churches throughout North America by largest Catholic publisher.

Unfortunately, many Catholics are not encouraged to the read the bible. They are encouraged to learn and follow their church leaders. However, some Catholic Bishops are telling their flocks in Wales, Ireland and Scotland that parts of the bible may not be true and that the bible is only good as a guide to live by. Do they call 2 Timothy 3:16-17 a false truth?
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
In an article in TimesOnlin.co.uk, Catholic Church no longer swears by truth of the Bible the Bishops reference the first 11 chapters as Genesis as questionable as truth and may only contain a fraction of accurate historical content. Their statement is basically calling God and Jesus liars! This is a grave contradiction to the doctrine that the bible in inerrant and inspired of God.
But the first 11 chapters of Genesis, in which two different and at times conflicting stories of creation are told, are among those that this country’s Catholic bishops insist cannot be “historical”. At most, they say, they may contain “historical traces”. (Catholic Church no longer swears by truth of the Bible)
This is clearly shows that the Catholic church is becoming more like the world, instead following the truths and teaching of Jesus who validated the old testament as true and without error.
The document shows how far the Catholic Church has come since the 17th century, when Galileo was condemned as a heretic for flouting a near-universal belief in the divine inspiration of the Bible by advocating the Copernican view of the solar system. Only a century ago, Pope Pius X condemned Modernist Catholic scholars who adapted historical-critical methods of analyzing ancient literature to the Bible. Reuters reported today in the article, Cardinal backs evolution and intelligent design that Senior Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn has stated that he could believe both creation and evolution. Because he says one is religion and the other science.
"I see no problem combining belief in the Creator with the theory of evolution, under one condition — that the limits of a scientific theory are respected," he said. (Cardinal backs evolution and intelligent design)
Cardinal Christoph Schoenborn remarks were made in reference to the ongoing court case in Dover, PA in which parents are suing the school district for teaching intelligent design along with evolution.
Times are certainly changing in the established world religions.
