LEFT BEHIND: WORLD AT WAR Movie Release

left_behind_locator_map.jpgI recently received an email form Peter Lalonde, CEO of Cloud Ten Pictures who produced the 3rd Left Behind series movie. It is opening in churches - not theaters - on October 21, 2005.

This has never been done before. So far, over 2,000 churches have signed up to debut the film. That is more locations (not screens because of multiplexes) than the top 6 theater chains combined!

If you look at http://www.cloudtenpictures.com/crarticle.html?o=177 you will see a North American map that shows locations. Click on your state and check out your area for fun.

Poll: Public Divided On Evolution

The public may be divided on the debate between creation and evolution being taught in the public schools , but the majority agree that creation should be allowed. Recently, The Pew Research Center recently conducted a poll on on this subject which proved the public wants creation taught as an alternative to evolution. Te results were published on their website:

Despite these fundamental differences, most Americans (64%) say they are open to the idea of teaching creationism along with evolution in the public schools, and a substantial minority (38%) favors replacing evolution with creationism in public school curricula. While much of this support comes from religious conservatives, these ideas particularly the idea of teaching both perspectives have a broader appeal. Even many who are politically liberal and who believe in evolution favor expanding the scope of public school education to include teaching creationism. But an analysis of the poll also reveals that there are considerable inconsistencies between people’s beliefs and what they want taught in the schools, suggesting some confusion about the meaning of terms such as "creationism" and "evolution." (from Religion A Strength And Weakness For Both Parties)

This report also discusses the fact that a large majority polled believe the liberal politicians have gone too far in their attempts to keep creation out of the public schools. Let us hope the on-going court case in Pennsylvania proves favorable and allows both creation and evolution to be taught in public schools.

A Second Scopes Trial?

Intelligent Design v Evolution In Court

Pennsylvania is becoming the testing ground in the court case, Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District that hinges on allowing intelligent design in public schools as an alternative to evolution. The Students were  told:

In the statement read to students before a ninth grade biology class, the District says that that there are “gaps” in evolutionary theory, and that there are alternatives to it, such as intelligent design. (from The Christan Post)

But the evolution proponents countered and are fighting in court that intelligent design is religion.

"Intelligent design is inherently religious. It is a form of creationism," said Kenneth R. Miller, a Professor from Brown University, whose biology textbook is used widely in schools throughout the nation, according to the Boston Globe. (from The Christan Post)

The proponents countered:

"Most of Dr. Miller’s testimony today against intelligent design was simply based upon a misrepresentation of the scientific theory of intelligent design," said Luskin, program officer for public policy and legal affairs with Discovery Institute’s Center for Science & Culture.

"The scientific method has been used in many fields to detect the action of intelligence in the natural world," explained Luskin. (from The Christan Post)

The bottom line in this case is whether or not intelligent design should be taught in schools. And it should be!

An Atheist Marketing Jesus?

John MacArthur’s book, Ashamed of the Gospel brought to light the importance of Madison Avenue marketing strategy used by the pragmatic churches. Instead of using good doctrine in their ministry, they are becoming more of a market driven ministry and losing sight of the Great Commission.

In Adelaide, Australia, a multi-denominational group of Australian churches led by the Bible Society of NSW have hired a marketing analysis, Angus Kinnaird who is an atheist, to market their new "Jesus. All About Life" campaign.

The new marketing strategy keeps the church, the Bible and religion well out of the picture. Instead, the spotlight falls on just one star. Jesus is played not as the son of God but a tough-talking no-nonsense philosopher who makes life easier and, incidentally, eternal. (The Australian 9-20-05)

More On Global Warming Fallacy

I am flabbergasted on how the mainstream media is duping the public with false information on global warming. With all this talk on global warming as evidence of the number of hurricanes and tropical storms, why no one has seen the error of these false claims?

I just posted a new article to one of my other blogs, www.walterdimmock.com, on the myths of global warming. The information I used  was written by environmental scientists almost 3 years ago and published in the scientific journal CO2 Science.

Any Internet search on "Global Warming Fallacy" will produce abundance of science facts on this issue.

Dispelling the Myths of Global Warming

By Dale Hurd
CBN News Sr. Reporter

CBN.com – CBN.com – (CBN News) - Environmentalists are not only working to keep America from developing new sources of oil, they are also blaming this unusually active hurricane season on global warming.

They say humans have caused climate changes leading to severe weather that is threatening the planet.

But is there any truth behind their claims, or are they merely based on junk science?

Red Cross Web Site Overwhelmed By Donations!

A recent www.eweek.com article reported that as soon as Katrina hit the Gulf coastline, the Red Cross online website began to be inudanted from all the donations received from a multitude of caring people.  Never in it history has the Red Cross had such a postive response from the public and private sectors. The high deman on its servers was unprecedented. Their IT staff of 50 worked feverishly. They first tripled the servers capacity and then had to double it again!

The Evil Nature Of Man Exposed In Katrina

For the last two weeks, the world has been witnessing unfolding  scenes of the overwhelming destruction by Katrina. In all this turmoil, the evil nature of man was being exposed in the absence of any law and order. Thugs shooting at the rescuers, looting (as seen on prime time TV), and everyone blaming each other for not responding quickly enough to this overwhelming catastrophe.

Martin Luther once said that he had high respect for the local magistrate. Without the presence of the magistrate, he knew the people would quickly revert to lawlessness and chaos. Peter said in 1 Peter 2:13-17:

Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish men. Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God. Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.

Supreme Court’s Eminent Domain Case “Kelo v. City of New London” Update

The Governor of Connecticut, Jodi Rell, has ordered the New London Development Corp. to withdraw the eviction notices that were issued as the result of Kelo v. City of New London. The Hartford Courant reports that the Governor has called for a moratorium on this and any future eminent domain cases that are using the Kelo v. City of New London decision.

"But the dispute re-energized calls for a statutory moratorium on land-takings until the General Assembly can agree on how to permanently limit the use of eminent domain - suddenly a potent political issue for the 2006 gubernatorial and legislative races." Hartford Courant  Sept 17, 2005 (For more information)

Let us pray that the local and state officials will stand-up for personal property rights as our Founding Fathers has decreed in the US Constitution.

Is the Pledge of Allegiance Unconstitutional?

by Dr. R. Albert Mohler, Jr.
Dr. Mohler is president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary-the flagship school of the Southern Baptist Convention and one of the largest seminaries in the world.

A federal judge in Sacramento ruled Wednesday that it is unconstitutional to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools. U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton ruled that the pledge’s reference to one nation "under God" violates the right of children in the public schools to be "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."

Once again, the driving force behind this case is Michael Newdow, an attorney and medical doctor who won a similar decision at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in 2002. That court ruled that Newdow, an atheist, had successfully made his case that requiring his daughter to recite the pledge of allegiance with the words "under God" violated his own first amendment freedoms. In essence, the California-based appeals court ruled that the mere presence of the words "under God" in the Pledge of Allegiance constituted an establishment of religion by the government.

The 2002 decision sent shockwaves across the country, but that decision was set aside last year by the U.S. Supreme Court. Nevertheless, the nation’s High Court dismissed the case after ruling that Newdow lacked standing because he did not have custody of his daughter at the time the suit was filed. Given the Supreme Court’s decision not to rule on the actual merits of Newdow’s argument, the stage was set for a second round of litigation.
